Dr. Griffin' s Education
Dr. Griffin is a native Arkansan.   He graduated with a Bachelor of Arts from Hendrix College in Conway, Arkansas.  He graduated with honors (summa cum laude), departmental distinction in chemistry and received the Shakespeare & organic chemistry awards.

He received his doctorate of medicine (M.D.) from the University of Arkansas for Medical Sciences.  He recieved the Arkansas Caduceus Scholar Award, the Merck Award and was a member of the honor society Alpha Omega Alpha.  During medical school, he did orthopedic research and co-authored a paper on the use of antibiotic beads to treat bone infections.

Dr. Griffin completed an orthopedic surgical residency at UAMS under the direction of Dr. Carl Nelson.  During residency, he received the Orthopedic Research and Education Foundation Resident Research Award and First Prize at the Arkansas Orthopedic Forum.

After residency, Dr. Griffin went to New York City to complete subspecialty training with some of the top knee surgeons in the country.  At the Insall-Scott-Kelly Institute, Dr. Griffin received special training in total knee surgery, ACL reconstruction, Arthroscopy, and Sports Medicine.  During his time in NYC, Dr. Griffin worked with high profile sports teams and wrote several peer-reviewed journal articles, made presentations to nationally recognized knee meetings and wrote several book chapters on the knee.

Since completing his training in 1997, Dr. Griffin has been practicing in Van Buren, Arkansas.  He has provided sports medicine coverage for several local high schools, the Old Fort Days' Rodeo, University of Arkansas at Fort Smith sports, and numerous other athletic events since arriving in the area.
